Hôtel de Crillon
C’est en 2017 que j’ai la chance de rencontrer la talentueuse architecte Aline Asmar d’Amman qui me demande de lui créer une série de 17 oeuvres pour les suites de l’hôtel de Crillon qu’elle a entièrement rénovées.
De ces échanges créatifs naîtront des pièces très singulières où le papier se mue au travers de mouvements d’aquarelle et de cire dorée. La délicatesse de ces teintes poudrées rappelle les décors historiques que l’on peut admirer dans certains salons de l’hôtel de Crillon.
Pour la suite Marie-Antoinette, Aline orchestre un dialogue à 4 mains entre Pascal Danguin et moi même afin de réaliser une version contemporaine du célèbre portrait de la Reine peint en 1783 par Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun.
Le trait charbonneux du fusain mêlé au volume du papier sculpté rehausse les détails emblématiques de ce portrait comme la coiffure de Marie-Antoinette ce qui lui apporte une puissante modernité.
It was in 2017 that I had the chance to meet the talented architect Aline Asmar from Amman, who asked me to create a series of 17 works for her for the suites at the Hôtel de Crillon which she had completely renovated.
From these creative exchanges will be born very unique pieces where the paper changes through movements of watercolor and golden wax. The delicacy of these powdery shades recalls the historic settings that can be admired in certain lounges of the Hôtel de Crillon.
For the Marie-Antoinette suite, Aline orchestrates a four-handed dialogue between Pascal Danguin and myself in order to create a contemporary version of the famous portrait of the Queen painted in 1783 by Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun.
The charcoal line mixed with the volume of the sculpted paper enhances the emblematic details of this portrait, such as Marie-Antoinette's hairstyle, which gives it a powerful modernity.
